Frequently Asked Questions

WasteX is a digital platform for verified waste disposal, recycling, and ESG records for public disclosures. The questions below cover the most common things businesses ask before joining.

Platform Overview

WasteX is a digital waste management platform that connects waste generators with licensed providers of disposal and recycling services. The platform captures digital waste manifests on every transaction, verifies participants and chain of custody, and delivers audit-ready records for compliance and ESG records for public disclosure. It is accessible via web and mobile phones.

Who can use WasteX

WasteX is for businesses with statutory waste obligations and the licensed disposal companies and recyclers who serve them. This includes firms in manufacturing, energy and petrochemical, food and beverage, construction firms, retailers, and the licensed disposal companies and recyclers who handle their waste streams.

WasteX is built for the Caribbean and LATAM, launching first in Trinidad & Tobago. Regional expansion is planned in line with the Inter-American Development Bank’s circular economy programme, and countries with statutory waste handling disclosures will be prioritised.

How it works

Generators register and list waste pickups by category, location, and quantity. Licensed disposal companies and recyclers accept pickups and complete them. The platform captures a digital manifest at every transfer, with digital signatures and a full chain-of-custody record. All parties have dashboards showing active and completed jobs, with exportable records for compliance and ESG reporting.

At launch, the platform supports 21 waste categories including waste oils (the flagship pilot category), plastics, scrap metal, cardboard and paper, e-waste, appliances, biowaste, tyres, glass, chemicals, clinical and pharmaceutical waste, sewage and sludge, and others. Categories are added as regional disposal companies and recyclers come on board.

Disposal Companies hold permits for compliant final disposal: landfill, incineration, or treatment. Recyclers hold permits for material recovery: turning waste streams back into feedstock. Some entities hold both licence types and the platform accommodates this.

Verification and onboarding

At sign-up, service providers (disposal companies and recyclers) upload their waste permits, vehicles, drivers, and insurance certificates. Generators upload their waste permits and user identification. This data is either physically or electronically reviewed and verified, then stored on file. The data auto-populates manifest forms at every pickup, reducing the likelihood of mistakes with statutory documentation and ensuring every credential involved in every transfer is on file before the wheels turn.

The WasteX platform is also designed to ensure physical measurements are recorded at every stage of the process: scheduling a pickup, executing the pickup, and final delivery at the disposal or recycling facility. This is further endorsed by random physical visits to ensure the correct quantities are being recorded and that the disposal or recycling is happening according to waste permits.

Yes. New accounts are reviewed by our team before they can post or accept jobs. Verification typically takes one to three business days.

Pricing and payments

WasteX supports three pricing modes: long-term contract rates between generators and service providers who already have agreements; spot pricing with prequalified providers; and spot pricing with new providers via quotation. There are three tiers of customers — Startup, Growth, and Enterprise. Set up an appointment via the Schedule a call button so we can find the best package for you.

Payment via the platform is not activated in this version, as many corporate customers have a separate payment facilitation system as part of their ERP. Payment processing will be part of the Phase 2 rollout as we understand more about what our customers want and how they work. In Phase 1, transactions are arranged and settled directly between the generator and the service provider, with the platform capturing the documentation, and values for future reporting. Sign-up on the platform is handled directly with the participants.

Compliance and reporting

Yes. The platform logs every transaction with a digital manifest, captures digital signatures at every transfer, and maintains a full chain-of-custody record. Records are exportable for statutory reporting and for corporate ESG disclosures, including diversion rates and recycling outcomes.

WasteX uses encryption for sensitive data, role-based access controls, and verified user accounts. Personal information is never sold. The platform’s evolving compliance roadmap covers regional data protection requirements.

Support

Both parties can flag issues directly through the platform. WasteX support works with both parties to resolve issues quickly and most will be closed within three to five business days. Every transaction is logged, so disputes have a clear documentation trail.
